Zapier AI pricing: what AI steps, Agents and MCP cost

Zapier charges for AI in the same tasks as everything else. An AI by Zapier step uses 1 task on a Standard model, 3 on Advanced and 5 on Premium, plus the same again for every tool call it makes, and a Zapier MCP tool call uses 2. On Professional's smallest tier, 750 tasks for $29.99 a month ($19.99 billed yearly), that is 150 Premium AI steps, about $0.20 each. Agents is an add-on: 1,500 activities a month for $50 ($33.33 billed yearly), and Zapier is moving Agents into AI by Zapier.

What will your AI Zap cost?

$193.50 a month on Professional's 10,000-task tier: 7,000 tasks, 71% of them for AI.

App steps are actions in other apps, one task each; Zapier's built-in tools such as Filter, Paths and Formatter use none. Prices before taxes. On the free plan AI steps only preview: “If you're on a Free plan, you can add AI by Zapier to an unpublished Zap to preview the results. In preview, the model tier defaults to Standard, and the Advanced and Premium tiers are not available. Click Upgrade plan to unlock these tiers and publish your Zap.”

How many tasks does an AI step use?

Zapier's formula: “Tasks used per run = (1 × model rate) + (number of tool calls × model rate)” and “A tool call is any time AI by Zapier successfully uses a tool (an app action or knowledge source) during a run.”

Zapier's own example: a Premium step with 2 tool calls uses 15 tasks. Tool calls on your own key work with Advanced and Premium models only. “Starting June 15, 2026, AI by Zapier steps are priced by model tier.”

A runaway step can't drain your plan in one go: “The default is 75 tasks, and you can raise it up to 500 tasks to match workflows that query more resources.” “If a step reaches its task limit during a live run, Zapier will pause the step and ask you to approve it before continuing.”

How many AI steps does a Zapier plan cover?

AI steps a month with no tool calls and nothing else using tasks; below, what one costs at that tier's price per task, billed monthly. Billed yearly: “Pay yearly (Save 33%)”. Every tier: Zapier pricing.

How much does Zapier MCP cost?

Nothing on top of your plan: “Zapier MCP is available to all accounts. One MCP tool call uses two tasks from your Zapier plan's quota.” So 750 tasks cover 375 MCP calls a month, at $0.08 a call on Professional's smallest tier, and MCP shares the same allowance as your Zaps: “Tasks are shared across your account. Zap workflows, AI steps, code, MCP, and SDK all draw from the same task allocation, with no separate task budgets by product.” The Zapier SDK costs nothing for now: “Zapier SDK is free while in beta. We'll notify you before the beta ends, and before any changes to pricing or task usage take effect.”

How much do Zapier Agents cost?

On Pro an activity works out at $0.0333 billed monthly, or $0.0222 billed yearly, if you use them all. “An activity is any billable action that your agent takes.” That covers an agent using a trigger, answering from a knowledge source, running an action, browsing, searching the web, or a message from the Chrome extension. Activities are separate from tasks: “Using activities does not affect your Zapier task usage.” One run can use at most 10 activities on Free and 40 on Pro.

What happens when the activities run out?

“If you reach your plan's activity limit: Your agents will no longer run.” They come back with your billing date: “The activities included in your Zapier Agents plan last for a month, and the limit is reset on the same date every month (the billing date).” If you have a Team account on Zapier, your team shares a pool of Agents activities.

Is Zapier replacing Agents?

Yes, with AI by Zapier steps: “Zapier is migrating Agents (agents.zapier.com) to AI by Zapier, a more powerful AI experience built directly into the Zap editor.” After the move an agent is billed in tasks like any other step: “AI by Zapier uses the same task-based pricing as the rest of Zapier. You no longer manage a separate Agents subscription or add-on fees.” Zapier hasn't set an end date: “Zapier has not set a date to turn off Agents yet. Before any changes happen, Zapier will email affected users with enough notice to migrate their agents.”

How much do Zapier Chatbots cost?

History: how many days of past conversations you can look back on. More than 20 chatbots: “Contact us for a custom plan with more than 20 chatbots”. Asked whether Chatbots comes free with a paid Zapier plan, Zapier answers: “Yes you can try Chatbots for free! Chatbots advanced customization and configuration options are available for purchase.”

Does Zapier Copilot cost anything?

No tasks: “While building and testing with Zapier Copilot, you will not use any of your plan's tasks or add-ons.” The only limit is on messages, and only on Free: “If you’re on a Free Zapier plan, there is a daily limit to how many Copilot messages you can send.” Zapier's plan table lists unlimited daily Copilot messages on Professional, Team and Enterprise.

AI on platforms that charge per run

n8n counts executions, not steps: “An execution is a single run of your entire workflow. It doesn't matter how many steps are in the workflow or how much data it processes. It's still a single execution.” Activepieces charges a run as one credit but adds credits for AI: “A step on a fast model is 2 credits, a smart model is 10, and a frontier model is 20.
